In a small Icelandic fishing town far far away called Ísafjörður, they may have discovered an answer to the long time problem of slowing down cars, a 3D zebra crossing. Such a simple idea this painted 3 dimensional pedestrian crossing is a cleverly-detailed optical illusion and even makes the pedestrian feel like they’re walking on air. The idea was noticed by environmental minister Ralph Trylla in India when researching ideas on how to slow traffic. The optical illusion changes depending on your perspective, in the air they seem like walls on the ground they seem to hover, check out more images here. Cool.
