Well we here at TheNews weren’t born and raised in San Diego, but after checking out this restaurant we wish we were. The Born and Raised Steak House in Little Italy is as high roller as it gets! The 10,000 foot square space, 45 foot cocktail bar (with 26 taps) 250 seater is pimped out in brass-plating (of course), walnut paneled, tufted leather booths and lush marble tops. Now lets get to the food, foie gras-topped Tournedos Rossini, Steak Diane, and rib of beef with Yorkshire pudding, dry-aged bone-in New York strip rested in the tricked-out kitchen’s 40-square-foot glass-enclosed dry-aging room and butcher shop. The hyped tableside carts will offer a rotating selection of dishes prepared while you watch, including beef tartare and shrimp Louis, plus Martinis, Manhattans and Rob Roy cocktails shaken at the table.

Enjoy your steak under the watchful eye of their patron Easy E

When you finished why not take in the panoramic views of Little Italy from the rooftop.

Photos: Born & Raised.

(And their logo reminds us of an Australian State (not steak))

Remember when you were young and always wanted a tree house, well you can still live that dream, with this awe inspiring yellow pod, The Yellow Treehouse Restaurant in New Zealand. Constructed on a 40 metre high redwood tree and is 10 above the ground, it was part of a Yellow Pages marketing campaign. The 10 metres wide space can seat a total of 30 people, includes a kitchen and toilet on the ground below. It was designed by Pacific Environment Architects NZ. “The Architectural Inspiration largely came from the site -an open fairytale meadow and stream in the midst of a redwood forest plantation, understanding the nature of the tree/environment and the construction concerns about building sustainably in a living tree”. Maybe Coldplay could do a gig there,“…And it was called yellow”.

No this bizarre object is not a building that’s just toppled over in Italy, it’s actually set to be Europe’s first underwater restaurant. Currently being built in Norway for completion in early 2019 it’s imply called Under. Designed by Norwegian company Snøhetta it “is a tribute to the Norwegian coast and to Lindesnes – to the wild fauna of the sea and to the rocky coastline of Norway’s southern tip”. It seats 80-100 guests, giving them a 360 degree through “muted lighting from the inside of the restaurant and installed on the seabed will help stage the wildlife flourishing on the sandbank outside the 11 x 4-meter panoramic acrylic window.” With three levels, Wardrobe, Champagne Bar and of course the restaurant level (and yes, they don’t only serve fish). The name is interesting as well, you’d think the name Under would just be a gimme but in Norway it has also means “Wonder”, all we can say is that this is Wonder-ful. So after that pathetic pun, we’ll head off, but there’s so much more to read about Under/Wonder here, so be immersed in its beauty an ideology. (Image courtesy: Snohetta)

So you want make a good first impression with your date, pull out all the stops, we’ll why not take her to the best bar in the world, the Mondrian London’s Dandelyan. Voted at the Spirited Awards 2017, with a stylish pink and green botanic-theme, modern fixtures of marble, leather and wood and on the banks of the Themes River, wow, plus it also won Best International Hotel Bar and Best International Bar Team. Now if that’s not enough to wet your lips it’s got and a drink menu designed by the Ryan Chetiyawardana (World’s best bartender of 2015 ). If that doesn’t win her over nothing will.
