Not only was he one of the greatest F1 racers of all time, if not the best, but maybe one of the greatest gift givers. The late Ayrton Senna gave this 16528 solid gold Rolex to his mentor Angelo Parrilla who discovered him in 1978 when he was just 18. Senna later went on to win three time Formula One world championships for McLaren in 1988, 1990 and 1991. The 1989 ‘Zenith’ is one of the earliest of Rolex’s automatic gold chronograph Daytonas and beautifully inscribed “A Angelo from Ayrton 1978″. It was recently auctioned for CHF162,500 ($233,500 AUD).
Auction also included a autographed helmet faceguard &
autographed picture of the 3 time world champ!
